Clinical presentations, epidemiology and management of COVID-19 associated Mucor mycosis in a tertiary care hospital in South India

To study the statistics of epidemiology, co-morbidities, clinical presentations, management and prognosis group. This is a retrospective conducted in tertiary care hospital South India, among 100 subjects, between May 2021 August when Mucor mycosis cases were frequently being diagnosed treated amongst COVID-19 infected patients. The results showed that 34.0% 51-60 years with 100% patients confirmed COVID positive through RTPCR tests. 86.0% had mucor on CT scan. 50.0% both eyes vision 6/60 presentation. 67.% periorbital swelling 51% having prior co-morbidities.63.0% received tablet Posaconazole 30mg as medical treatment 60.0% required no surgical management.10.0% orbital exenteration 21.0% partial maxillectomy.2% experienced apex syndrome associated complications.97.0% discharged post 3% mortality. There was correlation respect to anterior segment posterior findings P<0.001 P=0.79. P=0.43. co-morbidities death P<0.001, 32.0% uncontrolled diabetics. shows immune suppression directly related infectivity by mycosis. In order contain symptomatology grave patients, early diagnosis, affordable follow-up including patient education about etiology pathogenesis disease must be available.
